1.- What's Perfect Audio?
PerfectAudio 2.0 is an advanced nagravision audio decoder using
many signal processing techniques.
The main purpose of PerfectAudio is quality more than speed so
PerfectAudio will need a FAST computer.
We have build 2.0 version from scratch so everything in this
version is new. Every line of code has been rewritten in order to
improve speed, quality and almost everything compatibility.
Yes with 2.0 we only support 44100 sampling frequency given the
trouble the people out there had with 25600 sampling. What's more,
25600 gave poor quality results depending basicaly on the soundcard.
2.- You say you've improved the speed. PA 2.0 works slower in
my computer. Is that normal?
PerfectAudio 2.0 works in 44100 ONLY so some slow computers
may see performance problems with that sampling rate. We really suggest
you to use PA20 with a PCI soundcard given the low overhead this
soundcards have for the system.
3.- What happened to 0.8,0.9,1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3 versions?
Well, in our development effort PerfectAudio changed a lot
from 0.7 version. So versions from 0.8 to 1.2 never saw the light
and they were only interim releases for beta testing.
1.3 was the next public version and received good feedback from you.
After that we made public the 2.0beta to make sure everything was in
its place before the release of 2.0 version we are doing now.
Please mail us for every bug you find or every problem you have.
4.- Does PerfectAudio work with all SoundCards?
We hope so. The main requirements are a FullDuplex 16bits soundcard and
a fast computer. PerfectAudio should work even with the so hyped SBLive
card or any other card that does 44100 full duplex.
If you have an ISA soundcard throw it away and buy a brand new PCI
sound card. You'll hear the difference.
5.- How does PerfectAudio differ from other Nagravision Audio decoders?
-First of all the main goal of PerfectAudio is QUALITY more than speed.
-We use IIR filters to process audio,and some other advanced digital processing
techniques. You can select the order of the IIR filters.
-PerfectAudio has a VUMeter to monitor line input signal.
-PerfectAudio tries to be EASY, and thus we have a very simple interface that just
covers the tough stuff that's going underway.
6.- PA had an EQ what happened to it?
PerfectAudio 1.3 shipped with an eight cut equalizer. In 2.0beta version we
disabled the equalizer to let our betatesters concentrate testing the
other features. The 44100 equalizer code was still buggy and not suitable for
general public viewing so we disabled it.
But don't alarm, in 2.0 final release we have enabled the equalizer to its full
potential. Now, we've have included an attenuator to avoid saturation when the equalizer's
gain is big.
6.- I'm not hearing anything at all.
Make sure you've checked the line input as a recording signal.
Make sure the volume of wave output is up and running.
Your card doesn't like PerfectAudio. Mail me then.
7.- I'm hearing TWO signals simultaneously!! (encoded - decoded , live - live)
Remember you have to adjust the mixer. In the playback section you
have to disable the 'line input' and enable the 'waveout' line. In the
recording section you have to enable the 'line input'.
8.- Which filtering option should I use?
We strongly suggest to use the one you like the most. Perfect Audio gives
a recommendation but it may be not accurate. Just try and choose.
May be you don't hear any difference between basic filtering and full filtering
but we assure it is. If you computer has enough CPU use full filtering. It's the best
sound PerfectAudio can achieve.
9.- My VUMeter is always highlihted even if I have no input sound. What's wrong?
The PerfectAudio VUMeter measures the audio input power. If you see the VUMeter
highlighted even if you have no input it surely means that you have a noisy soundcard.
So, we sum up the uses of the VUMeter here:
1.- Testing wether your sound enviroment is noisy or not
2.- Monitoring your input power signal. If you see the VUMeter in RED you are
just to overloading the input
10.- What 'Don't use cosinus lookup table' is used for?
To improve performance PA uses a cosinus table rather than working out the cosinus
in real time. However the lookup table can introduce clicks and pops that can be removed
if you click in 'Don't use cosinus lookup table'. If you do so you'll see performance
seriously affected. We suggest you to use it only if you have enough CPU horsepower.

quality.
-Source code built from scratch. Every line code has been rewritted,
in order to optimize speed, quality and compatibility.
-Now a VUMeter can be used no monitor input or output signals. This
can help to optimally adjust the line input level.
-Users can now select the filter to use, no filter at all (only for
those with performance problems), basic filtering, and full filtering.
-Eight cuts Equalizacer ranging from -10 to 10 dB gains.
-Autodecoding implemented.
